Pa’s Fiddle: Charles Ingalls, American Fiddler
Courtesy of the Little House books, Pa Ingalls is perhaps the 19th-century American fiddler about whom we know most. We know the names of many of the tunes and songs he played, where he played them, for whom, and often why he chose them. This recording, which draws from the instances when Pa is chronicled playing his fiddle alone, aims to place him among the first rank of old-time fiddlers whose music is foundational to so much in American music.

Happy Land: Musical Tributes to Laura Ingalls Wilder
Released 2005, this recording is a representative sample of music from across all the books. In 2007 it was honored by the National Endowment for the Humanities with a place on the “We the People Bookshelf,” the first CD ever included in this prestigious program.
“There is one thing that will always remain the same to remind people of little Laura’s days on the prairie, and that is Pa’s fiddle.” –Laura Ingalls Wilder

Pa’s Fiddle: The Music of America
This “one night only” celebration of music from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House on the Prairie books was performed for PBS by Randy Travis, Natalie Grant, Rodney Atkins, Ronnie Milsap, Ashton Shepherd, The Roys, and Committed (NBC Sing-Off Champions). The American classics they sang include Sweet By and By, My Old Kentucky Home, Buffalo Gals, Roll the Old Chariot Along, and Ol’ Dan Tucker.

Dean Butler: Remembering Pa
As TV’s original Almanzo, Dean Butler is grateful for his connection to Laura Ingalls Wilder, her Little House on the Prairie books, and, most significantly, the television series they inspired. In 2019, for the 45th anniversary of the Little House series, Dean recorded four of the songs Pa Ingalls played for his family during their adventures on the prairie in the late 1800s. These songs and so many others provided Laura’s Little House books with a sturdy melodic foundation.
